Getting weird sign-up emails

I have started getting form 'thank you for your sign-up/inquiry' emails from organizations and businesses. I have never contacted any of these places. What's going on here?
I have had this account for a long time. In the past few weeks, I've been receiving a "thank you for your request / inquiry / contact" emails from different organizations and businesses, plus "reset your password" emails. I have not contacted these places and do not have accounts at these businesses, though.
I do not think someone is using the wrong email address when they sign up - my email is a weird phrase, so it doesn't seem likely. The emails are from a variety of places - a marketing firm in India, a kids' club at a mall in California.
My sent folder shows no weird activity. I have 2FA enabled; I recently signed into a new computer with this email and 2FA worked.
Has my email or something been compromised? Do I need to be concerned? What next? |
