Know anything about donating services to a charity auction?

I'd like to donate my services to a charity auction, but don't know how to go about it. I'm in NYC, and prefer staying local. Remote is an option but less than ideal. Do you know anything about this?

I'm trying to get a new business/service off the ground, and am looking for ways to advertise/market it. I don't have much budget or social media presence (just linkedin), and self-promotion is not my strong suit, to put it mildly. A friend suggested donating to one or more charity auctions, for exposure and hopefully some good PR. I like this idea, but don't really know how to go about it. Do you have firsthand experience with this, either on the services side or the auction side? I appreciate anything you can share!
