How can I make Firefox understand href.li?

On my laptop, using Firefox, when I follow an external link from Tumblr, it is prefaced by "https://href.li/?" and the page does not load. Instead it says "Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at href.li." I get a similar error in Microsoft Edge: "href.li refused to connect." I know the prefix is being added by Tumblr to stop the link from knowing where the referral came from - but why can't these browsers handle that? I don't have this problem on my phone or tablet using Safari.
