Oaxaca bound

I'm planning a solo trip to Oaxaca in early July, my first visit, and I'm trying to figure out what to do. (And places to eat!)

I speak Spanish and have traveled a lot in Latin America. As I get older, I'm finding I'm most interested in art, live music, the outdoors, and experiences like tours and just interacting with folks. The more offbeat, the better.

On recent trips I've enjoyed an art gallery walk in Guadalajara, a cultural development tour in Medellin, and a firefighters' museum in Santiago (really). I've probably seen my fill of markets, crafts and churches, although always open to singular new stuff.

So what should I not miss, in town or day trips? I've been browsing e-bike tours, cooking classes, and a website (Showaround) that connects you with local guides. Renting a car is a possibility.

And of course: food! What are the don't-miss spots in town
