Is there a (cheaper) hack for this biofeedback thing?

Was looking into a thing called "Freespira" that is essentially I think biofeedback. You do 17 minutes twice a day of breathing with a device that shows you when you have the right amount of Co2 in your respiration to avoid a state that triggers panic. Downside: it costs 2K and the only healthcare system that pays for it is the VA.

Is this something I can find another way of doing? I'm pretty sure my own panic symptoms relate to my breathing, but not in a way that responds to simple stuff like 4-7-8 breathing. (The person I talked to at Freespira said yeah, the held breath actually has the wrong effect on CO2.)

I'm interested in trying this kind of approach, but not $2,000 interested. Is there a way of monitoring this that would let me practice this without paying a company a ton of money
