I was planning a road trip across western Canada (BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan), to start as soon as possible. I see that there has been unusual cold snap with an unexpected amount of snow. How bad are the road conditions actually?
For those of you that are currently in northern BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan: how bad is the weather right now? Edmonton is the furthest north I will be, and Jasper is the highest altitude I will be. Should I change into winter tires before I head out? Should I delay the road trip? I would be sticking to major roads (Highway 1 and similar) and relatively large cities (Edmonton, Saskatoon, etc.).
I have been doing quite a bit of Googling and thinking, but most of the results are about historical weather and driving conditions, rather than now. So, if you are based in northern BC, Alberta, or Saskatchewan, I would love to get your current, on-the-ground assessment! |
