Really loved Andor and how political it was, and how specifically relevant it was to this moment in the USA. Looking for novels, short fiction, or graphic novels in the science fiction genre (preferably that take place on Earth) and which explore social dilemmas thoughtfully, and in manner highly relevant to what's going on politically *right now.*
Already reading "Parable of the Sower." And "Hunger Games" would also count in that it's a Marxist critique of capitalism.
But to clarify -- I'm looking less for sci fi stories that are "just" about a post-apocalyptic world brought on by climate change, or "just" about fascists taking over again, etc - as these are broad sci fi tropes. Looking for literature that's akin to "District 9" + immigration, or "They Live" + consumer culture, or "Gattaca" + eugenics/RFK's ableism, or "Snowpiercer" + class struggles.
Just to reiterate, despite my movie references -- really looking for written fiction. Bonus points for anarchist or socialist themes. Thanks! |
