brain zaps not from withdrawal

Anyone experience brain zaps while taking an SSRI or SNRI and not tapering or missing a dose? I'm familiar with the brain zaps that happen when I miss a dose of Effexor but I know I've taken my last several pills and I'm having the same sort of brain zaps as when I miss a dose or am late taking it. This isn't the first time that it's happened. But it's something I've only noticed sporadically in the past year after being on the same dosage for many years. Is it crazy to think that perhaps it's something not quite right with the brand of generic I've been getting? Was considering asking my doctor to prescribe actual Effexor Xr, not generic, or trying to find a pharmacy that stocks a different brand of generic. Also interested in other theories that could account for the brain zaps.
