I think I want to live alone but I want to hang with my flatmate still

Our lease runs out in May next year. After 4 years of living with him, I think I prefer living alone. I have 11 months to get this idea across to him, without hurting his feelings. What to do?

We have a sexual relationship and a friendship, but he unintentionally sucks energy out of me (autistic) even though he reduces my load by driving me places, cooking most meals, doing the shopping, and cleaning. He also wants to do my washing. I like him a lot, he's a good person, but very lonely. I don't get lonely. He can be very demanding about sex and that is annoying. Sometimes when I've done some unidentified thing wrong, he sulks, and claims nothing's different.

What do you think I can do over the next 11 months to prepare him for different addresses? He is on a low fixed income, so this will be particularly problematic for him.

If he doesn't want to hang with me when we are at separate addresses, that's okay, but I provide nearly his entire social life, me and my trivia team.

Hurting people really fucks me up for a couple of years, so a good plan to preserve his ego, and our friendship would be nice.
