Would one dentist/periodontist be willing to finish another's work?

I recently had dental surgery and was supposed to go back next week for follow-up. However, due to some major issues with the dentist's office afterwards, going back might be awkward to say the least. I was just wondering if another dentist/periodontist would be willing to do follow-up work on another dentist/periodontist's work

I recently had gum surgery which itself seemed to go okay. However there were some issues afterwards (basically their office forgot to tell me beforehand that I would need to pay the entire amount upfront and then be reimbursed by the insurance company later). I agreed to a payment plan through a lending company, but then the office told me the next day that they "forgot" to tell me at the time that there would be a $XXX application fee for doing the loan. They did agree to drop said fee after I pushed back. However, I talked to my insurance company who said, among other things, that they never received an estimate request from the office and that, despite what the breakdown on the estimate said, some of the procedures that were done weren't actually covered by them (so chances are that, if I'd paid the whole amount, I would not be reimbursed for said procedures). I then emailed the dental office and told them that, after talking to the insurance company, I would simply send them a check for the original "patient" total on the estimate (since the insurance company said that's the amount I was actually responsible for). I put the check in the mail, and I haven't heard back from their office since.

Needless to say, things might be awkward if/when I go back for my follow-up visit next week. (I'm wondering if they'll again try to make me pay the full amount right then and there). Given the above, I'm wondering if it might be better for another dentist/periodontist to do the follow-up work, or if most dentists would just say that said work would need to be done by the original dentist/periodontist.
