What is the best computer that I can buy right now to use for work? I am open to Mac or PC.

I used to buy MacBooks, but now I try not to support planned obsolescence and noticed the worse quality as years went by. My understanding is that if I bought a more expensive Mac computer, perhaps it would last longer than 2 or 3 years. I am willing to pay more, I guess, if the computer can last for 10 years. Is that even available now?

I have an HP Elitebook from work but it is really annoying and work updates take forever, and I don't want to deal with taking it into IT for stupid updates because I can't do all the updates.
I need the computer for grading essays in Canvas, emails, etc.
If you could recommend a desktop and or laptop with monitor set up, that would be great. It is too overwhelming for me when I walk into Best Buy and I don't like anything because I feel like computers just got worse and I just want a simple computer.
I need Outlook for work as well. Thanks!
