I turn 50 next February and I want to do it in Hawaii. I've never been to Hawaii. Explain to me like I'm a 5 year old where we should go, stay, and see. We plan to go for a week.

We want to see a mix of beaches, jungle, and kitsch. We do not have the resources for a White Lotus type resort and wouldn't mind some island hopping. Some questions:

- where should we fly into / out of?
- should we establish a base on one island and visit other islands on day trips?
- what is a "must-see" place or thing?
- we are not particularly sporty so hiking is not attractive.
- are there places to avoid that are over touristy (but not to the point of kitchsy)
