My eight-year-old has suddenly become very interested in coin collecting. What do I need? Where do we start?
Details: we probably have some mild neurospicy going on; he loves things which come in a set, having every book in a series etc. Grandpa gave him a box of random coins. He was fascinated. He spent some time so far sorting them in different ways (by year, by country of origin etc) and looking at all the details with a magnifying glass. Grandpa then suggested he start coin collecting, and right away it was yeeeeeees from him.
But what do we do? I looked on Amazon and they had a lot of special folders you could buy for a certain types of specialized sets. I'm not sure where at that point yet. I need a more basic sort of information guide about what the different attributes of coins are, how to build a collection, I don't even know what. Maybe what I just need is random coins and a nicer magnifying glass
