Can you all help me strategize an in-person shopping trip? I am in inner Portland, Oregon and in need of a professional-ish women's blazer. I would like to try them on in person rather than buying and returning. I have a handful of shopping options, and I am trying to be efficient about where I go.
I am not looking for something perfect, but, I think, any lighter/summer weight, single-breasted professional-ish (west coast professional, not east coast lawyer), not black (because I want to wear it with black or navy blue bottoms), size 14-16ish, that fits decently. I can spend up to, say, $150-200 if I love it and it fits great, but less is great too (online, on Quince and Banana Republic Factory, I am seeing prices here and lower).
I am not looking for a knit/sweater blazer, but something more like a suit jacket.
Options include:
A few large outlets outside of town - advantage of having several stores to choose from, even if I have to drive a bit further.
Nordstrom Rack and Nordstrom downtown - super close, but will they have a good selection? I have looked for women's suits in Portland before and not found much, but maybe separates/a blazer would be easier to find? I am worried Nordstrom will be too expensive. I suppose I could also go to Pioneer Place mall, but I'm not sure what's there anymore.
Nordstrom Rack, Banana Republic Factory, etc at Cascade Station - pretty convenient, not sure about selection
Macy's/the big wall west of town - further away, and overwhelming in size, but Macy's always used to be my go-to for women's suiting.
This isn't the kind of thing I usually buy, and I haven't been shopping for nicer women's clothing in person in ages, so I'm not sure where to go. Ideally, I'd make one trip, even if it included a few stores, rather than have to make several trips to different places. I'm trying to avoid the cheapest, trendiest places and am open to suggestions.
Bonus question: I'm seeing lots of double-breasted oversize blazers online, so is that the current trend for women |
