Interpretation of a recurring dream?

I know some people think dreams are the result of random electrical impulses in your brain but I am firmly of the belief they have significant meaning. I also know hearing about other people's dreams can be extremely tedious! There is one recurring nightmare which I've been having for over a decade and I was wondering if anyone had any interesting interpretations on it.

I'm starting to think its possible that these dreams occurred soon after reading The Life of Pi. This will make sense in a minute. In that book, a boy is trapped on a boat with a tiger.

I do remember at the time, vividly imagining what it would be like to be in an enclosed space with a tiger and scaring myself.

My recurring nightmare is almost always to do with being in a house and knowing there is a tiger (sometimes a lion) lurking somewhere in an attic or basement, just out of sight. I don't actually see it most of the time, I'll just know its there.

Now, this tiger is always "injured" and in my dreams my family are always not bothered at
all about it and act like it's completely
harmless. But I know that it's not and I'm terrified and the more everyone around me acts like its no big deal, the more scared I get.
Nothing specific happens and I just wake up feeling scared, sometimes imagining there is a tiger in the room with me, near my bed.

This has been going on for over 15 years and I have this nightmare about once every few months. I do think I have CPTSD and anxiety disorders, to add some context.

Has anyone had any recurring nightmares for this length of time and with the theme being so consistent
