Is there a song where they sing the bass line to Bowie's "Heroes"?

I have this notion that there's some song from my youth - late 80s, early 90s - where there's a vocal bit that sounds almost exactly like the bass line from David Bowie's "Heroes." This is proving pretty difficult to Google and my wife says I'm just thinking of the Bowie song - but I swear it's a vocal, not just an instrument playing those notes. Am I totally making it up, or can anyone help figure out what song I'm remembering?
In my brain it's all "do-do-do" (or possibly "na-na-na"?) to the tune of that bass line. It feels like one of those 80s bands with the sincere male vocalist with lots of emotion in the voice - to me that means folks like Tears for Fears, INXS, that kind of thing. It could have been on a movie soundtrack, maybe? |
