What nonfiction should I read about environmental issues, policy, and activism? It's been several years since I've read much in this area, so I need a refresher. Also, where should I get my environmental news?
I am hoping to get involved in environmental activism and prefer works with a political science/economics/policy slant. I really enjoyed Annie Leonard's The Story of Stuff and Naomi Klein's This Changes Everything. Both writers are activists, but I'm equally interested in works that skew academic.
I don't want books about individual lifestyle changes or "Climate Change 101" books.
Bill McKibben is already on my radar.
Bonus question: where should I get my environmental news? I live in Virginia and would like to stay up to date on environmental issues affecting our region (pipelines, coastal issues, etc.). National and global news is also welcome. |
