My mother has been diagnosed with what two separate neurologists have independently concluded is probably Alzheimer's. My father took my mother to another doctor for a third opinion. The doctor had my father sign a "transfer of care" away from the neurologist she is currently seeing to her( the new doctor). Is this normal?
There are all sorts of red flags here: the other big one is she's not a neurologist, but diagnosed my mother with frontal lobe dementia by looking at her brain scans.
But I need to figure out if asking the patient to fill out a transfer of care is common practice for specialists, because I don't understand why you ask someone to do this. |
