someone logged into my Verizon Messages account

I just received a text from Verizon that someone logged into my Verizon Messages account. The IP address where the log in occurred is in a location where my former stalker lives. Help me figure out how to proceed.

Obviously, I will change my password.

I have an Android phone.

Is there any way for whoever accessed my Verizon Messages account to see the content of my text messages? I can't find an answer about this from the internet.

If the mysterious log in was initiated by my former stalker I need to know what they can see. Fellow Android/Verizon users please give me your insight. I'm a bit frightened. Not sure what I can/should do beyond changing my password.
