COSY DENS ("PELÍŠKY") (1999) is the highest-rated film on Letterboxd from Czechia (4.1), and a cultural mainstay universally beloved by many Czechs. I can see why: It's pure nostalgia, a pleasant period piece comedy about a group of ordinary people during 1967, the last year of the 'Prague Spring'. A 16 yo son is infatuated with a beautiful teen, and all members of their middle class families are fantastically depicted. It's warm, funny, and a national classic. Apparently, if you're a 'real' Czech, you 'must' watch it on Christmas day every year.
