Twister Huntress is a cracking league-start choice if you don't mind a busy playstyle. It isn't a one-button mapper, and that's the point. You set things up, you burst, and when it clicks, bosses just melt. The early route works well on Spirit Walker, Amazon, or Ritualist, so you're not locked into one ascendancy on day one. While levelling, be smart with drops and vendor checks; a little extra PoE 2 Currency goes a long way when your weapon needs replacing every few acts. Use the vendor search string "ty o|mov|spear|ge to a" to spot added attack damage, movement speed, rarity, and spear bases without wasting time staring at every item.
Gear Priorities That Actually Matter
Your spear carries the build, so treat it like the main character. Look for flat added damage, increased physical damage, attack speed, and levels to projectile skills. Lightning damage is especially handy because shock gives you more damage without asking much from you. Keep the fastest spear you find, even if its damage is lower, because it becomes useful later for Whirling Slash in your first weapon set.
  • Spear priority: Flat damage + attack speed + projectile skill levels
  • Element bonus: Lightning is strong due to Shock scaling
  • Speed rule: Fast spear > high DPS slow spear for setup consistency
  • Accessory focus: Gloves and rings should stack flat added attack damage
  • Amulet value: Attributes (Dexterity, Intelligence, Strength) often matter more than fancy mods
  • Boots rule: Movement speed is mandatory for smooth clearing

Boots are simple: get movement speed. Life and resists are nice, but slow boots feel awful.
Defence, Charms, and Early Comfort
In Act 1, armour pieces feel good because early hits are fairly direct. From Act 2 onward, start leaning into evasion gear instead. Don't ignore life or resistances, though. They're boring stats until you don't have enough of them. Item rarity is worth picking up during the campaign when it doesn't cost you damage. More rare items and better currency drops can quietly fix half your gearing problems.
  • Act 1 defence: Armour feels stable and forgiving
  • Act 2+ shift: Gradual move toward evasion-based gear
  • Core stats: Life + resistances stay mandatory throughout
  • Optional stat: Item rarity is useful if it doesn’t reduce damage output
  • Charms:
    • Sapphire Charm after Act 1 ritual boss (cold mitigation)
    • Stone Charm for general survivability
    • Antidote Charm in Act 3 for Viper encounter
Spending Currency Without Bricking Progress
Most of your crafting should go into weapons. Don't throw Transmutes and Augmentations at random gear just because they're sitting in your stash. If your spear is decent but your boots still have no movement speed, then sure, try augmenting boots with an open prefix. If you find a blue weapon with attack speed or skill levels, that's a good target too.
  • Best investment: Weapon upgrades (especially spears)
  • Safe crafting targets: Boots (movement speed), early good blue weapons
  • High-risk currency: Exalts, Regals, Artificer's Orbs → save for strong bases
  • Upgrade rule: Stop crafting when your current weapon is “good enough” and bank resources

If a strong weapon drops and your damage feels fine, stop crafting. Seriously. Bank the currency and make the next weapon swap easier.
Skills, Companions, and Weapon Sets
At level 36, add Combat Frenzy once you get the extra Spirit. It feeds Frenzy charges into Barrage, which helps Twister repeat and turns your burst window into something nasty. When you find extra Spirit from gear or interlude rewards, use a companion from Tame Beast. Elemental ground modifiers, like Trail of Lightning, are great because they help your Whirling Slash and Twister setup. Herald of Ice gives smoother clearing, while War Banner is better for single target if you don't mind another button.
Later, run your fast spear in weapon set one for Whirling Slash and Thunderous Leap, then keep your hardest-hitting spear in weapon set two for Twister, Ice-Tipped Arrows, and Barrage. If you're testing this on league start, having access to cheap poe 2 currency can make missed upgrades less painful, but good timing and smart crafting still matter more than blindly buying power.
