We just picked up a house in one of the London suburbs and we're fixing it up one room at a time. Coming up next is setting up a dining space in the courtyard by the house. Looking for a nice spot to sit outdoors when the weather's good, eat meals, enjoy being outside. The issue is we've got no clue what furniture we should be buying for it. What did you guys end up choosing and where in the UK did you find it?

A courtyard dining area turns out great when you do it properly. We sorted ours a couple years ago and now it's where we spend most of our time from April through September. Picked a wooden table with chairs that could take the British climate without rotting after one wet season. Main thing is getting stuff that can stay outside when it rains, because if you're constantly hauling it indoors you'll stop bothering with it altogether.

Handling the weather is really the crucial bit, low quality pieces warp and lose their colour in one season. We found that out the hard way with our first garden set, seemed fine in the store but turned into a waterlogged disaster after sitting outside for a few months. You can look at outdoor dining furniture here https://rengard.co.uk/product-category/outdoor-dining-sets/ . Their table and chair collections stand up to rain and sunshine without requiring endless upkeep. You leave it outside through summer and actually use the space rather than fussing over whether the furniture's falling apart.
