We thought we were ready. New boss drops, squad’s hyped, and we charge in like we own the place. Ten minutes later, we’re respawning, wondering what just happened. The Matriarch isn’t just tough – she’s chaos wrapped in armour. The cannon alone can ruin your day, but it’s the endless waves of drones that do you in. You’re swatting at them, trying to keep your head above water, and then – boom – someone’s gone. Felt like plugging leaks in a boat with bare hands. If you’ve been there, you know the drill. Honestly, I’d have traded half my gear for a few extra ARC Raiders Coins just to make it hurt less.
She’s built like a fortress, and every hit feels like you’re throwing rocks at a tank. The little bots don’t give you a second to breathe. They’re fast, they sting, and they’re only there to keep you busy while she lines up that big shot. We tried going full damage at first – didn’t work. By the time we cleared the swarm, she’d already taken someone out. That’s when we realised: raw firepower wasn’t going to cut it. We needed control.
Two of us switched to crowd control gear – Stasis Grenades and Arc Launchers. Their only job was to freeze the swarm, stun them, buy space. No glory shots, just keeping the rest of us alive. The other two went all-in on anti-armour. I had the Omen Launcher with armour-piercing rounds, my mate ran a railgun. Our focus was narrow: hit her vents when they opened after the cannon blast. You’ve got seconds, so we called every opening out loud, timing shots to land together. When both hit, she staggered hard, and that’s when you could really hurt her.
The last run was still messy, but it was our kind of messy. Grenades locking down waves, railgun tearing plates, rockets slamming into exposed circuits. She hit her final phase and went wild – shields breaking, one teammate down, alarms blaring. But we stuck it out. One perfect railgun shot cracked a vent, I sent my last rocket in, and then silence… followed by the biggest explosion I’ve seen in-game. Loot was great, sure, but the real win was beating her on our terms. If you’re stuck, don’t just stack damage – control the fight, talk to your squad, and you’ll get her. Makes the victory, and even grabbing those Raider Tokens cheap, feel so much sweeter.
