PlayStation 5 owners and fans of Sony’s PC offerings have a new opportunity to help test new releases and features.
Via aPlayStation Blog post, Sony has announced their new Beta Program, an initiative to provide fans with a one-time registration to test a variety of future game releases on PS5 and PC, as well as new system features and updates.
The goal of the Beta Program is to make it easier for players to express interest in future tests.

The Beta Program at PlayStation will create an easy, centralized place for you to register your interest in a range of future PlayStation betas.
Here are the requirements:
  • Players must have a valid account for PlayStation Network in good standing with a current email address. Accounts with restrictions or violations may not be eligible for participation.
  • Players must live in the region where Beta Program at PlayStation is available.
  • Players must meet the legal age requirement for their region.

What Will Participants Be Testing?

According to the blog post, the Beta Program will include tests for certain new PS5 and PC games and new features for the PS5, PS App, and PlayStation website.
Interested players only need to register once to opt into all available tests, and if they receive an invitation to a specific test, they’ll be able to choose to join the beta or decline.
Anyone with a current PSN account in good standing, without any restrictions or violations, can register, provided they live in a region where PSN is available, and they’re of legal age. Registration is free, and opens today for anyone interested.
Theregistration pagefor the program has more details included in an FAQ.
In one answer about if members of the Beta Program will be able to share their experiences with others, Sony states that all participants will be required to sign an NDA, and will not be permitted to share “content, screenshots, videos, or details about the beta outside of approved channels.”
Participants are also encouraged to report bugs and other issues, and will be provided with guidance and access to platforms and tools to do so.

All has not been well for Sony and the PS5 in recent weeks, with thePS5 Pro failing to outsell its last-generation counterpart, asignificant price cut for the PSVR 2, and PlayStation evenpromoting an AI-generated game on their social media.
Maybe launching the Beta Program and giving players more of a platform to provide Sony with feedback will help turn things around and mend their image a bit after these recent blunders.
