Earlier this week, Bethesda announced that its forthcoming fantasy MMO game The Elder Scrolls Online will have a monthly subscription cost of $15.
In another interview, Chilton stated that the fun-themed Mists of Pandaria expansion for World of Warcraft , released in September 2012. has been "very successful" for Blizzard entertainment. It's so successful that the game would have suffered if the company had not launched it, Chilton said.
"We would have been in poor shape in the event that we hadn't done it," Chilton said.
He acknowledged that some fans were concerned about the expansion being something that was a departure to World of Warcraft 's roots however, he said it was needed to grow and further expand the game.
"People playing Vanilla always say 'if it had been different, I'd have the same excitement now as at the time.' But this isn't the case. Audiences are always changing," Chilton said.
World of Warcraft 's next major update, Siege of Orgrimmar, is due to be released on September 10.
