We actually considered creating an uninvolved RuneScape game several years ago when we launched RuneScape: Idle Adventures," Pfeiffer explains. "In Alpha, we stopped development to focus our efforts to the core RuneScape games.

We've always believed in that RuneScape's game has potential in the area of idle games and Melvor Idle has proven that RuneScape can create a fantastic idle game. But Melvor Idle stands up on its own merits too, and we wanted to remain as true to the original vision of games that Brendan had when he started developing his game."

He also highlights the success of Melvor Idle as evidence that talent can emerge from the community of any game that Jagex has seen before. "We've always been able to find it to be the RuneScape communities to be a great resource of potential talent to Jagex not only in terms of game designers but every other role in a games studio," the director claims. "RuneScape has seen nearly 300 million accounts created in over 20 years, which means the talent pool who have played the game is staggering."

Following the success of the partnership in the past with Games By Malcs, Pfeiffer states that he's interested in working more work with indie developers around the globe, especially if they're creating initiatives that "align with RuneScape's design philosophy and Jagex's core values" And he hopes Melvor Idle's success will inspire more independent developers to reach out to Jagex Studios.

With the latest version 1.0 of Melvor Idle out, Games By Malcs and Jagex are working together on new content, and more potential titles set in the Melvor universe. Malcolm continues to be grateful to Jagex for its ongoing support, especially in bringing the game to new players.
