If you CAN get your oxygen up easily, are you all good?

So we've all seen the covid oximeter advice. I'm just curious as it has happened many times during the pandemic that I or someone else has checked oxygen and found it low. But take a few deep breaths and it's normal. If you can easily get yourself into the normal range, does that mean your good, or does the fact that you were low mean you need to be looked at?

My mom's oxygen is commonly in the low-mid nineties while lying down for example, but if she makes a point of taking some breaths, she's good.
