Christmas Party - Young Adult Professional Edition

I work in an academic unit with a staff of undergrads (with a handful of exceptions). We have an on-campus Christmas party coming up. What would go over well with this group?

There'll be food and music. We don't have a ton of budget to throw at this, and it'll be taking place in one of the campus spaces, so we can't make too much of a mess (so making/decorating cookies and/or gingerbread houses is out). Alcohol is obviously a no.

What else could be on the table to make this not a painful hour or two? Any and all ideas are welcome.
