Elimination or suppression (of fungal spores)?

When trying to treat a fungal skin infection, how important is it actually how one does laundry?

Let's assume the infection is Candida albicans.
If this is present on and in our bodies and in our environment anyway, how much would one actually need to worry about presence of the spores on clothing, towels etc?

I've read that you need temperatures over 60 degrees Celcius to effectively kill the spores, but that it's difficult to achieve that in a domestic washing machine. I then read something else which suggested that using a decent mainstream detergent is possibly more important than the temperature.

Assume that I'm changing towels daily, sheets once a week, and washing whatever I can at 60 degrees Celcius. But maybe there are a few things I can't wash above 40 C. I use a really good detergent, a front loading washing machine which should be able to heat water to the requested temperature, and I'm using the longest wash cycle.

I'm inclined to think that worrying about the presence of spores is just adding unnecessary stress when they exist all around us anyway, or am I being foolhardy?
