Bike fit question

Help me understand bike fit. I am 5'0" tall. My step-through bike has a 44 cm frame on 26" wheels. With the seat set in the lowest position, my knee is just ever so slightly bent with my foot flat on the pedal in the lowest position. Yet when I consult fitting charts, they tell me I need more like a 35 cm frame. How can that be? I mean, the pedals have to be a certain distance from the ground, and my ass a certain distance from the pedals, so how would a smaller frame size even work? I would love to be able to get a foot on the ground while seated, but how? |
