Help Me Find This Poem

About 20 years ago, I was in an English Language and Literature class that covered poetry from around the world. I'd like to find a racist poem we discussed.

There was one poem we discussed in great detail, specifically how it was racist and othering, and at that time I just could not see how it was racist. I remember feeling so confused that a poem using someone's "exotic" last name as part of a playful rhyme was racist, when someone could do the same thing with any name at all, even "Smith." I'm hoping to revisit this poem to evaluate my current feelings toward it and gain some more context about time/place/author.

What I remember:

- Likely in an anthology available in the early 2000s and used as a college textbook
- Likely written by a white male
- Possibly British colonial themed
- The rhyming name was something like "Mr. ---aham", with 5 syllables...
- Who, of course, goes to sit on "the divan"
- Lines rhymed, but I don't remember if every line rhymed with "divan" or if only one did

Any leads appreciated!
