Head lice are blood-sucking parasites that are attracted to hot and dark areas of the scalp, such as along the hairline, behind the ears and in the neck. Lusa's life cycle has three stages. The female lice attach lice eggs to the hairs down at the scalp with a glue-like secretion that makes it very difficult to comb them out. 10 days later the egg hatches and a nymph is developed. This begins to absorb nourishment from the scalp. After a maximum of 12 days, the nymph has become a fully developed lice. After mating, they can lay between 30 and 300 eggs.
